Sock Patterns
Chunky Sock Pattern
This sock pattern uses 2 strands of 4-ply sock yarn. All Tall Yarns sock yarns are suitable, as well as most other brands of dyed or un-dyed sock yarns. Especially the use of one solid-coloured strand and one multi-coloured strand results in a very effective texture.
Shadowplay Socks
This may look like a normal sock, but making it is far from standard, in more ways than one.
* They are completely knitted on 2 needles, so no knitting in the round.
* They are knitted with 2 colours yarn, creating a subtle shadow effect like the example in the picture. Very different effects can be achieved depending on the colours of the yarns used.
* They are knitted (from the cuff down) in spiralling strips with a Dutch heel and short-rowing at the toes. Yet there is no sewing up required, as you pick up stitches as you go.
* They can be knitted both with or without a cuff.
* Can be knitted with any 4-ply sock yarn. The socks in the picture were knitted using Angel 4-ply from The Natural Dye Studio.
Simple Sock Pattern
A basic, simple sock pattern, knitted from the cuff down. Easily adapted to fit any adult size from 4 – 12.
Soliloquy Lace Socks
This pattern first appeared in a sock supplement with a 2011 Summer issue of Knitting magazine. It was specifically written for Soliloquy Sock Lace and is knitted using 2.0mm needles. The pretty lace leaf and trellis design is best shown using semi-solid shades, as variegated shades would make it less easy to recognise the shapes.
These socks are knitted from the toe up and use a short-rowing technique to turn the heels.
Soliloquy Top-down
A straight forward top-down pattern in stocking stitch, specifically written for Soliloquy sock yarn, knitted using 2.0mm needles.
The special touch is a reinforced Dutch heel (gusset and reinforced heel flap) and an a-symmetric toe-construction, to it follows the shape of your toes (you’ll knit a left sock and a right sock).
If you don’t like the idea of this, you can of course just knit the toe decreases symmetrically, as in regular sock patterns.
Soliloquy Twist Socks
A sweet lace pattern alternating little cables and an easy lace section. Because of this, this pattern is well suited for variegated yarn, like the Koigu dyed Soliloquy shown in the picture. The socks are knitted top-down, with a Dutch heel (i.e. heel-flap and gusset).
Suitable for beginner lace knitters.
Designed for Soliloquy Sock Lace, knitted on 2.0mm needles.
Toe-up Sock Pattern
Another Simple Sock pattern but this time knitted from the toe up rather than the cuff down. Because you start with a small number of stitches, novice sock knitters may find this more fidly than starting with a full set of stitches at the cuff. This sock sports a short-row heel (i.e. a diagonal line, as you get with bought socks) instead of the Dutch heel on the Simple Sock (cuff down) pattern.
