Relaxed cardigan that can be knitted in a wide variety of yarns and textures. Because of the simple shape of the cardigan, it fits from a UK size 8 all the way up to a 16 without having to amend the pattern. Since it has a one-button closure, it would lend itself really well to a space-dyed yarn that is dyed to match the colours of a special, unique
button. The pattern is for an Aran yarn, knitted on 4.5 mm needles. The sleeves of the cardigan are knitted simultaneously and top-down to allow using up all the yarn you have available; if you have more, you can opt to knit longer sleeves, if you have a little less, the sleeves are left a bit shorter. Because you use up your yarn on the sleeves, you knit the edging for the neckline before knitting the sleeves.

This pattern demands some more knitting experience, especially when using bouclé knitting yarn. The whole idea with bouclé is that you can’t make out the stitches. This means that while knitting, you really need to keep exact track of where you’ve got to (e.g. by writing down your progress), or you won’t remember where you were and, unlike
with a regular WIP (work in progress), you can’t quickly look back over your work to find your place in the pattern. The gradual decreases and increases along the edges of the front and back panels make for a lovely fitted look but demand you to be scrupulous in your progress tracking!
This project can be knitted with any chunky yarn that produces a similar tension gauge (11 st x 16 rows = 10 x 10cm), knitted on 5.5mm needles.
The pattern instructions cover 3 sizes (S, M, L), which fit all sizes from UK 6 to 20 (US 2 to 16).
